WAFL CAMP | PINGELLY 2024

Tuesday, February 20, 2024 - 10:25 AM

On Saturday February 17th our Senior WAFL Players jumped in a bus and made the journey out to Pingelly Recreation and Cultural Centre (PRACC) for their 2024 Camp.

We were met with a warm welcome by locals, family members and the wonderful team at the PRACC and Brookton-Pingelly Football Club - all incredible hosts for the day providing warm country hospitality.

The players jumped straight into training, completing a big session in some of the warmer conditions experienced all pre-season. It was tremendous to see the local community at the Oval watching and mingling with our players and staff.
After a hard training session the players had a bite to eat and went straight into an intensive leadership session with Glenn Stewart our Leadership Consultant.

Glenn worked with the players on their vision for the year and oversaw the team leadership vote for 2024.

The group voted on who they want to see lead South Fremantle's League side and we look forward to announcing that in the coming days.

We were lucky enough to have an incredible offer from the Blechynden Family, who kindly hosted our squad at their farm for the evening. Welcomed by the family, the boys were treated to a yabby entree and massive cook up from the Blechynden's for dinner.

Taking in the country air, it was an oppotunity for our players to strengthen their bond as a group as we prepare for a big season ahead. This Camp was brought to life by our Head of Football Charlie Burke, supported by a range of stakeholders.

"The Pingelly camp was a great opportunity to visit one of our regional zones and give back to the community that has given our Club so much over the years" Burke said.

"Spending time as a group to clarify our objectives, vision and expectations going into the season was incredibly beneficial"

"The camp also allowed us to build relationships away form the footy field, with the squad putting their camping, table tennis and yabby farming skills to the test." Burke concluded.

There is a broad array of stakeholders we wish to thank for helping make this camp happen - it simply isn't possible without a lot of effort and support, we are grateful.

Thank you to the Shire of Pingelly and Sheree Blechynden from the PRACC for their support leading up to and on the day. The Brookton-Pingelly Football Club were integral in helping this come together, and special thank you to their President Adrian Fairhead

Local Physio Melissa Tinker stepped in as our Physiotherapist for the day. The Blechynden Family were sensational, thanks to all their support in hosting our players and providing such a home-away-from-home for our squad in Pingelly.

Our sponsors really bring these activities to life, notably Sullivan Logistics our Regional Partner! We couldn't have got down to Pingelly without the help of Purely Commercials who provide us with van for the year, but also stepped in and got us some extra wheels for the trip!

To all the fans, supporters, family members, players and support staff who made the trip, what a special and bonding experience it was!   Bring on Season 2024.
