Nicky Winmar Cup
The South Fremantle Indigenous metro 15yo team have gone back to back champions in the Nicky Winmar Cup over the weekend, beating Perth in the Grand Final by 18 points.
The South Fremantle team coached by South Fremantle greats Brad and Cliff Collard, started the carnival slowly just getting over the line against the Wheatbelt team by 2 points. The side would end up finishing the qualifying games in group 1 with 3 wins and 1 loss, the one loss being to Perth and finishing 2nd in group 1.
Finishing 2nd in their group would mean taking on Group 2 winners East Fremantle. The slow start the boys had to the qualifying games went out the window and took control when it counted most in the finals. South Fremantle would end up beating East Fremantle in the semi final by 29 points.
Some of the better players over the day were: Matthew Wilkes, Edward Warrell, Shai Bolton, Antoine Forrest-Yarran & Josh Kickett.
