REACHING 100 games at South Fremantle means the world to wingman-turned-defender Shaun Bewick having settled since crossing from West Perth and now his focus is on the ultimate success with this current playing group.

With the Bewick name having such a strong history at West Perth, there was great excitement at the Falcons when twin brothers Shaun and Rohan Bewick were coming through the development squad and colts ranks.

Bulldogs go down to Thunder in Mandurah

Tuesday, July 24, 2018 - 4:45 PM - by Chris Pike
SOUTH Fremantle has dropped to third position on the WAFL ladder following a 24-point loss to Peel Thunder at Bendigo Bank Stadium on Saturday ahead of a bye and a season-defining Round 18 clash with West Perth.

There were plenty of reasons to win for both Peel and South Fremantle heading into Saturday's contest at Bendigo Bank Stadium, and both teams had a strong recent history of meeting with plenty at stake.

While South Fremantle had won five of the past six home and away season matches over Peel, the Thunder had beaten the Bulldogs in last year's qualifying final and the previous year's preliminary final so both deserved to have confidence it could get the job done against the other. Read More [+]

Round 16 Preview v Peel Thunder

Saturday, July 21, 2018 - 10:54 AM - by Chris Pike

SOUTH Fremantle will look to bounce back quickly from last week's loss to Subiaco up against Peel Thunder at Bendigo Bank Stadium on Saturday in what is Shaun Bewick's 100th appearance for the Bulldogs.

Having played one another in each of the past two WAFL finals series, Peel and South Fremantle are no strangers to each other and there is plenty at stake again in Saturday's contest at Bendigo Bank Stadium.

Peel comes into the contest in eighth position on the WAFL ladder with a 5-8 record so the premiers of the last two seasons need a win to stay in the finals race in 2018.

Coach Post Match – Todd Curley Round 15

Tuesday, July 17, 2018 - 9:15 AM - by Chris Pike

WHAT South Fremantle coach Todd Curley had to say following the Round 15 loss to Subiaco at Leederville Oval and looking ahead to this Saturday against Peel Thunder in Mandurah.

QUESTION: What are your first reflections after that performance Todd?
ANSWER:
Clearly we were beaten by a much better team. They worked much harder than us for longer than us. I think if you look at the back 15 minutes of each quarter, it was nine goals to nothing and clearly we have to get better.

Q: What do you put that down to, because for large periods you were able to be competitive but that last quarter and the end parts of each quarter really were costly?
A:
Clearly they are willing to work harder and for longer than some of ours. We competed and I thought our first three quartres saw us do some good stuff. If we took a couple of half chances here and there and maybe we could have been back within a couple of goals at three quarter-time. But it's a carbon copy of what's happened in the past against them. They kicked three goals really early in the last and the game was shot. We have got eight weeks to possibly earn the right to have another go at them but if we continue in the manner that we are, we are probably going to come up short.

Day to forget for Bulldogs against Lions at Leederville

Monday, July 16, 2018 - 2:33 PM - by Chris Pike
IT was quite the day to forget for South Fremantle at Leederville Oval on Saturday in all three grades with the Bulldogs only managing a combined seven goals in three losses to Subiaco.

It was a day that promised plenty for South Fremantle heading to Leederville Oval but in the end the Bulldogs played three games to quickly forget against Subiaco league, reserves and colts teams that all now sit on top of the ladder.

South Fremantle only kicked three goals in each of the league and colts contests, and one in the reserves. The 3.10 kicked in the league contest was the Bulldogs' lowest score since 3.4 (22) in a 57-point loss to East Perth also at Leederville Oval on a Friday night in Round 23, 2004. Read More [+]

Coach Post Match – Todd Curley Round 14

Thursday, July 12, 2018 - 10:24 AM - by Chris Pike

WHAT South Fremantle coach Todd Curley had to say following the Bulldogs' NAIDOC Round WAFL victory over Claremont at Fremantle Community Bank in what was Ryan Cook's 150th game.

QUESTION: It was hard work in the first half but I think you would have been especially pleased with some of the football you played in the second half to beat Claremont?
ANSWER:
They've been going pretty well and obviously have quite a heralded midfield with a lot of good players in there, and they are pretty dangerous if you give them space. We were disappointed early but thought that certainly after quarter-time and especially after half-time that we played much better.

Q: It seemed to be a real grind for both teams in the first team, did you feel when it opened up a bit more in the second half that it suited you?
A:
No doubt, I think they tried to close it down a bit and that's sort of the way they have been playing. They've been winning but not kicking huge scores, and defending pretty well. Even today they defended pretty well for most parts but I thought we were able to spread the ball much better in the second half and had a really even contribution. We didn’t have anyone getting super high numbers but we didn’t have anyone who was really low either.
